2022 AAIMH NATIONAL CONFERENCE

CONFERENCE THEME

“CHOOSING INFANT WELLNESS TO GROW THE NEW WORLD”

Covid has required us all to be creative in how we can run events. It is now 3 years since our last National Conference.  With still a lot of uncertainty when beginning to plan for our conference we decided we would go “Hybrid”.

  • What this means is that each Branch is holding their own event face to face between 18th to 21st November 2022. The Welcome to Country and International Keynote Speaker will commence the conference on-line.
  • Culminating in the AGM on 21st November with Danya Glasser as the AGM speaker who will launch the AAIMH position paper “Continuity of relationships”.

KEYNOTE NATIONAL EVENT

MATTHEW MELMED

Executive Director of Zero to Three

THINK BABIES, THINK HOPE

Abstract: ZERO TO THREE is a U.S. private, non-profit organization with global reach whose mission is to ensure that all babies and toddlers have a strong start in life. In this keynote, Matthew Melmed, Executive Director, will inspire hopefulness by sharing successful efforts advancing infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) through a public health lens of promotion, prevention, and intervention that centres racial equity, diversity, and inclusion. Mr. Melmed will make the case for the power of investing in early childhood, highlighting programs that promote IECMH through advocacy and awareness and through integration of developmental guidance and assessment in paediatric primary care. He will speak to the importance of messaging and framing in building public will and awareness to support infant and young child well-being. Evidence will also be shared from successful efforts supporting children in the child welfare system who are at risk due to exposure to abuse or neglect. Mr. Melmed will speak to the adoption of DC:0-5 worldwide, recognizing the importance of developmentally appropriate and early diagnosis for access to high-quality, equitable treatment for infants around the world. Moving testimonials will be shared to capture the voices of families and providers, and to share hope for a new world.
