Getting to Know You: Lessons in Early Relational Health from Infants and Caregivers

About the Presenter
Dr Claudia M. Gold, MD is a pediatrician and writer who practiced general and behavioral pediatrics for over 20 years and now
specializes in early childhood mental health. While working on the front lines in a busy rural practice, she “discovered” the world of
research and knowledge in the field of infant mental health through her studies with the Berkshire Psychoanalytic Institute in the early
2000’s. The experience led to a profound transformation of her clinical work with families. Her most recent book, The Power of Discord: Why
the Ups and downs of Relationships are the Secret to Building Intimacy, Resilience and Trust, was co-authored with Ed Tronick. https://vimeo.com/687675141
About the Event
Dr Gold's presentation will address core early relational health principles including the repair theory of human development, parental
reflective functioning, the healing power of safety, and the ways that relationships change the brain and body. Contemporary developmental
science research will be integrated with clinical stories to reveal the power of playing in the uncertainty, both to promote healthy
development and to heal from adversity and loss.
This presentation is a one-day event. Event time is from 9:30am to 4:30pm local time, except for Darwin live-stream event which is from 8am
