Strengthening Relationships in Infant Development
ABOUT THE SEMINAR
This day focuses on the transformative power of relationships in early childhood development. The presentation will be lead by Vicky Gilroy,
who is the Director of Innovation and Research at the Institute of Health Visiting (iHV) in the UK. In this seminar Vicky will explore how
the UK Health Visitors are being trained to work on, in and within relationships, placing relational health at the heart of service
delivery. She will talk about how the modified Alarm Distress Baby Scale (m-ADBB) and ADBB is used in clinical settings to build workforce
capacity, enhanced job satisfaction, and improve infant mental Health outcomes.Vicky will also talk about inclusive practices that recognise
and support fathers as vital caregivers.
The overall presentation highlights how real world clinical experience and research evidence shapes service innovation and policy reform. We will also hear from her team Dr Sharin Baldwin, iHV research Lead and Hilda Beauchamp, PIMH Lead, via a prerecorded video. Dr Patricia O’Rourke, PhD who developed the Maternal Looking Guide (MLG) will also contribute to the conversation talking about how the Maternal Looking Guide contributes to the promotion of early relational health. The day will be primarily interactive with some teaching and opportunities for networking. It will be of interest working for anyone working in the early relational health space including leaders and managers of services involved in early intervention with infants and their families
PRESENTER

Vicky Gilroy
brings deep expertise in workforce development, relational practice, and evidence-based service transformation. Vicki has a 40-year career
in healthcare holding a variety of strategic posts in public health, community and higher education settings. She currently working with
the iHV leading a wide portfolio of projects in training and collaborative research to enhance health visiting practice. Extensive
practical and theoretical expertise in change management and leadership. Expertise in the development and delivery of training and
education to support CPD of health visitors and the wider workforce.
