How To Join 

The membership process is as follows:

  1. Please complete the online AAIMH application form by selecting Join AAIMH on the menu bar and submit it to AAIMH along with the application fee. If you do not live in a state or territory with a branch, please select the most appropriate branch for you.

  2. When your application and payment have been received, your local branch will be notified. Admission as a member first requires the approval of the relevant Branch committee.

  3. Approved applicants will be notified by email and your application fee will convert to your first year's membership fee based on a financial year.

  4. In rare circumstances when a membership application is not approved, the applicant will be advised and the application fee will be refunded.

Professional Referee

In the application you will be asked to provide details of a Professional Referee. Ideally this person will be an AAIMH member, or alternatively they can be an employer, a supervisor or work colleague who can verify your suitability.

Supporting Information

You will also be asked to provide Supporting Information. This refers to information on your background, experience and current role working with infants, young children and their families, which will help the committee make a decision on your application. Please also include what you see are the benefits for you in joining AAIMH.

Before submitting your application you will be asked if you have sighted the AAIMH Constitution and agree to abide by the values, principles and standards of practice set out therein.

Fees for 2019-2020

New applications

The membership year is based on the financial year from 1st July to 30th June.

Full Member:

  • New member applications submitted between 1st July to 31st December: $110 (including GST)
  • New member applications submitted between 1st January to 30th April: $55 (including GST)
  • New member applications submitted between 1st May to 30th June: $110 (including GST) - this fee will 'carry over' and provide membership up to 1st June in the following year.

Student Member:

New member applications from Full Time Students (from a relevant area of study) accepted between 1st July to 30th June: $45

Please note, evidence of enrolment needs to be uploaded during the application process. Please have the relevant documents (pdf or jpeg) ready before you commence the application form.


Renewals are due from 1st July. To renew, please log into the Members Area.

Full member renewals: $110 (including GST) due 1st July
Student member renewals: $45 (including GST) due 1st July

Payment of fees

AAIMH application fees and membership renewal fees can be paid for using PayPal, Credit Card or Direct Deposit.

Payment by PayPal and Credit Card is preferred as AAIMH is automatically credited with your fee and your application can be processed by the Branch promptly.
